Juan-Pablo Mas

Juan-Pablo Mas is Managing Partner of Action Potential Ventures, bringing two decades of experience as an operator and investor in healthcare and medical technology. He spent his early career leading R&D and Strategy efforts in Medtronic’s CardioVascular Division—where he was named Medtronic Inventor of The Year—and subsequently worked on Global Brand Strategy at Eli Lilly. These formative years gave him deep operational insight into the challenges of bringing innovative products to market.

As an investor, Juan-Pablo was on the founding team of Lightstone Ventures and previously invested at Morgenthaler Ventures, where he served as a Board observer at companies including Ardian (acquired by Medtronic), Twelve (acquired by Medtronic), SetPoint Medical, Nuvaira, Cabochon Aesthetics (acquired by Ulthera/Merz), and Miramar Labs (acquired by Sientra). Today, he actively manages investments across multiple platforms, serving on the boards of Alpheus Medical, Cala Health, Neuspera Medical, SetPoint Medical, and Gradient Denervation Technologies, as well as an investment committee member for SR One’s Synapse Fund.

Beyond his investment work, Juan-Pablo is deeply committed to building a more inclusive venture ecosystem. He co-founded SomosVC, dedicated to increasing Latino and Latina representation in venture capital, and serves on the boards of Diversity by Doing (DxD) and USA Lacrosse. He’s also an Oversight Committee member for Stanford’s Neuroscience Institute and sits on AdvaMed’s Investor Advisory Committee.

Juan-Pablo earned an MBA from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business, where he was named a Bonini Fellow and awarded a full academic scholarship, and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where he played Division I men’s lacrosse. He’s originally from Puerto Rico.
